Well, since the beginning of astrology the major aspects have been the trine, sextile, square, conjunct and opposition.
However, what's the orb of influence? How does it vary among planets? This is a matter of contention and varies from astrologer to astrologer.
A simple approach I use is to treat the aspects as zones and use the halfway points between the aspects as boundaries. These halfway points have names, mind you. They are:
Between conjunct (0°) and sextile (60°): semisextile (30°)
Between sextile (60°) and square (90°): squile (75°)

Between trine (120°) and opposition (180°): quincunx or inconjunct (150°)
This makes it interesting as it tells you exactly when one aspect begins and another ends.
In my experience this tells you where the turning points of your life are.
